Privacy Policy

Who we are

BEC is a voice-first English coaching web app. It shares a Firebase project with the Advanced English Fluency Coach (AEFC) Android app so the same Google or email account maps to one user id across both products.

What we collect

• Account data — email address, authentication provider, display name, and Firebase user id.
• Profile data — level, accent preference, industry, seniority, and similar fields you enter in onboarding or Account.
• Session data — scenario metadata, timestamps, text transcripts of your side and the coach side, and the structured post-mortem report generated after a session.
• Usage data — product analytics events (for example which screens you open). We do not send raw transcripts to analytics.
• Technical data — standard web logs (IP address, user agent, request paths) on our hosting provider.

What we do not store

We do not persist raw microphone audio or model audio output. Audio is processed in real time in your browser session. Google's Gemini services process audio transiently under their terms when you use Live coaching.

Why we use your data

• Provide sign-in, onboarding, live coaching, post-mortem, and history.
• Enforce daily usage caps and protect the service from abuse.
• Improve reliability and product quality (aggregated analytics).
• Respond to support or deletion requests.

Processors and subprocessors

We rely on Google services, including:

• Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, App Check, Analytics, App Hosting)
• Google Cloud / Vertex AI and the Gemini API for coaching and feedback
• reCAPTCHA Enterprise for App Check on the web

Their privacy policies apply to how they process data on our behalf. We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

Account and session documents remain until you ask us to delete them or we retire the beta. Server logs are kept for a limited operational window on our host.

Your choices

• Access / export — email us from your account address.
• Correction — update profile fields in Account, or contact us.
• Deletion — use Delete account in Account (routes to email) or write to hello@betterenglish.chat. We aim to complete deletion within 7 days during beta.
• Analytics — you can use browser privacy tools; some blockers may break Firestore until you allow the site.

Beta notice

BEC is in public beta. Features, limits, and this policy may change. We will update the "Last updated" date when we do. Material changes may also be noted in-app or by email where appropriate.
